QUINTIN
Barnard
Summary
what he does...
Quintin’s interest in training started when he was young, and he would do push-ups, sit-ups and bicep curls with his dad every day. It was a great bonding time, and it made him realize that working out could positively affect his performance on the sports field. In 2010, he began to train with Curtis who helped him fall in love with the world of athletic strength and conditioning. While Curtis was training him, Quintin struggled to put on the weight he wanted to. So, he began to research on his own about nutrition and supplements that could aide him in this process. While he was doing this, it clicked with him that the world of exercise, and athletic development was the area he wanted his profession to be in. After he graduated from high school, Quintin continued his journey for knowledge, at Eastern Washington University. While he was attending school, he began an internship at a small private gym in Spokane Valley, leading baseball teams in resistance training. Throughout the remainder of college, he kept training athletes and adults in this small gym. In spring of 2017, he graduated from Eastern with his B.S. in exercise science and decided to stay and work as a trainer in Spokane. 3 years later, Quintin packed everything up and moved back to the northern Seattle area to be closer to his Family and join the team of exercise professionals at Curtis Clay Training or as we call it “The Kiln”.
Education
what he knows…
After college while Quintin was in Spokane, he got his certification from ACE so he could begin designing and leading people in exercise programs. Over his 3 years there Quintin helped many adults and youth athletes reach their fitness goals. However, he also had a few clients who were not able to meet their goals. Some of those clients would cancel sessions because of feeling discomfort or other unwanted sensations like “pain”. This was Quintin’s call to action that he needed to change something about the way he used exercise. This brought him to take the Muscular System Specialist™ course (Exercise Professional Education). In these classes Quintin has learned a system that allows him to create exercises that are created for each client based on their body’s needs, to create a more sustainable relationship between clients and resistance training.
